Kaieteur News – Miss Region One is set and ready for the launch of Pageant 2024, starting from June 22 to June 29 showcasing the grace, poise, and intelligence of six stunning contestants from the sub-regions of Mabaruma, Matarkai, and Moruca.
The selected delegates poised to compete for the prestigious title are Tiea Lowe, Lianna Marlock, Alicia Thomas, Tuwana Payne, Anessa Scott, and Keisha Prince.
Director of the Pageant, Treasure Alana James, revealed that this year’s event marks a significant milestone as it will commence with a grand launching ceremony in Port Kaituma, a first-time location for the pageant. The launch will feature the sashing, introduction, talent, and swimwear segments, setting the stage for a week-long extravaganza of beauty and talent.
It is also noted that the Miss Region One Pageant forms part of the Gary James Memorial Weekend, paying tribute to the late father of the director herself. The director expressed that the event promises not only glamour but also fun and meaningful activities, including tours, empowerment forums, and a special lunch hosted by the Regional Democratic Council (RDC).
The Pageant will also have an empowerment forum which this year will be in collaboration with the Rights of a Child Commission Guyana, where delegates will address community issues and propose solutions as part of their platforms.
The grand finale, scheduled for June 29 at the Mabaruma settlement ground, will feature a captivating lineup of events, including the introduction dance, top three talent showcase, costume presentation, evening wear segment, and an intelligence round.
James expressed hope that the pageant becomes a catalyst for bringing visitors to the region while providing the audience with a top-notch entertainment experience. She stated “We hope that as the activities grow, it can continue to bring tourism to the region and to give the people a quality show.”
This year, the pageant will also debut an exciting addition—an evening concert featuring the 2024 Soca Monarch King, Carlvin Burnett.
