Trophy Stall, Clear Waters, Rubis on board
Regal defeated Mike’s Wellman by one run when the KPL 20-over Softball tournament continued on Sunday
at the Carifesta Sports Complex ground.
Batting first, Regal posted 194-9. Mahase Chunilall got 61 and Troy Kippins 30; Mike Singh claimed 3-25. Wellman responded with 193-6 with Lloyd Rooplall scoring 85.
Regal got the better of Amazon by 46 runs. Regal scored 202-5, taking first strike. Chunilall made 51, Faleem Mohamed 49, Mahendra Hardyal 28 and Eon Abel 25. S. Ghanie took 2-28. Amazon were sent packing for 156 in 19.3 overs. Rudolph Perreira made 41 and S. Ramesh 22. Hardyal snared 4-36 and Ramesh Sunich 3-28.
Parika Defenders beat Superior Woods by six runs. Defenders batted first and mustered 178. Ramesh Rambharose cracked 33, B. Singh 30 and A. Basdeo 25; Extras contributed 25. R. Persaud captured 3-27. Superiors Woods responded with 172-6. R. Rodrigues made 49, D, Mangru 30 and Mark Fung 29; Rambharose had 3-34.
Fisherman XI overcame Wellman by 117 runs. Fisherman XI got to 252-8, taking first knock. R. Mohan led with 50, Jagdesh Persaud made 46, B. Heeralall 42 and Ramo Malone 37 not out. A. Kallicharan and L. Singh took two wickets each. Wellman were bowled out for 135 in 15 overs in reply. S. Samlall and A. Kallicharran made 37 each as P. Singh and Samuel Kingston picked up three scalps apiece.
Fisherman beat Tropical Spring by six wickets. Batting first, Tropical Spring were skittled for 71 in 12.5 overs. P. Singh and B. Heeralall had three wickets each. Fisherman responded with 73-4 in eight overs. Ishwar Persaud made 32; R. Khan claimed 3-16.
Amazon got pass Pune Warriors by two wickets. Pune Warriors scored 164 all out in 20 overs. B. Lakeram scored 37, R. Persaud 28 and D. Mohanram 24. S. Ghanie got 3-30 and R. Narine 2-10.
Amazon made 166-8 in 18.2 overs. Rudolph Perreira led with 62; R. Bisraj made 20 and H. Ghanraj 18. M. Ifill and B. Lakeram took two wickets each.
The competition continues tomorrow at the said venue with Regal facing Tropical Spring and Fisherman playing Success at 09:30hrs. At 13:30 hrs, Mike’s Wellman will play Pune Warriors, Superior Woods will battle Amazon and Regal will face Fisherman in the over-40 division.
In the open segment at 09:30 hrs, Princess will play Accomplishment Who will take on Herstelling at 11:30 hrs.
Meanwhile, Trophy Stall, Rubis and Clear Water have thrown their support behind the tournament.
