With horses taking a break to get themselves rejuvenated and re-energized, horseracing will once again see top class racing after a break of just over three weeks come Sunday November 21. That will be the date when the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club runs off a grand one day eight event horse racing meet at its Alness Village, Corentyne racetrack starting from 13:00hrs.
The meet which is the final one organized by the club for the year will have over $3.5M in cash, trophies and other goodies up for grabs and so far a number of the countries top animals have already staked their initial claim by entering for the event.
There are five main events on the day’s card with the B & Lower race once again being the main drawing card with horses set to compete in the Three Year Old Guyana and West Indie Bred event, The Two year old Guyana and West Indies race along with the F and G class match ups.
The feature B class event will see the animals competing for whopping $500,000 winners money over 1700M and trophy while second to fourth place will receive $225,000, $101,000 and $45,000 respectively.
The other main event, the 3yrs old open for horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies, also has an encouraging $350,000 first prize on offer also over 1700M.
The F class division, which is expected to be competitive, will be an 1100M sprint and will see the competitors battling for a first prize of $250,000.
The two year open for Guyana and West Indies Bred horses over 1400M has a winning stake of $225,000.
The G Class 1400M gallop as usual will see a top class field in action as they race for the $200,000 first prize on offer. The H class 1200M event has a first prize of $150,000 and is also another top notch race on the day’s card.
The other events listed for the day’s programme is the ‘I3 and lower 1400M battle with a winner’s money of $125,000. While the K and L class match up over 1400M with the pole position takings being $100,000.
The RCMTC&SF have the reputation of being one of the fastest race tracks in the country and with major upgrading works ongoing on to the track and facilities, the track is expected to be in tip top shape and some fast times are expected to be recorded.
