Botofago Football Club (BFC) defeated their counterparts Netrockers in the Osmond Cummings Memorial first U-20 football tournament Sunday last at the Bayroc Ground by 4 goals to 1.
In the first game Daquan Washington in the 74 minute rocked the nets for Amelia’s ward to even the score with Hi Stars who in the 13th minute secured their goal off the boot of Colin Gray. The game ended 1 all with two yellow cards given to Shamar Trotman in the 58 minute and Nathan Kennedy in the 75th minute both from Amelia’s Ward FC. The second game saw Milerock gaining a walk over from Blue Berry Hill.
The third game saw Eagles FC holding their opponents to nil all at half time. Coming back into the game with fire in their eyes Quaelon Andries booted the first and only goal in favour of Winners Connection before the game ended 1-Nil in favour of Winners Connection.
In the fourth game from the sound of the whistle Botofago dominated the game with some early shots to goal; while some went wide of the goal posts. Netrockers Keeper made some great saves but couldn’t hold the ball as Amar Jones in the 11th minute rocked the back of the nets to put Botofago in the lead.
Determined to show prowess and dominance Amar Jones again in the 33 minute beat the goalkeeper to score with Shane Haynes adding the third goal in the 40th minute. At the end of Half time Botofago were in the lead with three goals to Nil.
Still fighting Net Rockers showed some determination and grit and in the 58th minute Travis Moriah booted a goal which gave his team some encouragement and they fought for goals but it was Botofago who scored in the 72nd minute off the boot of Kelroy Anthony. At the end of regulation time it was 4 -1 in favour of Botofago.
The tournament continues this Saturday at Bayroc ground when Silver Shattas will come against Blue Berry Hill at 14:00 hrs and Top XX will play Amelia’s Ward at 16: 00 hrs. (Jacquey Bourne)
