Parika Defenders and Trophy Stall Angels were crowned champions of the male and female categories respectively when the Georgetown Cricket Club staged its 10/10 softball tournament on Sunday.
Parika Defenders defeated Mike’s Wellman by five runs in the male final. Parika Defenders took first strike and posted 66-7 with Dhanraj Singh scoring 35. Mike’s Wellman got to 61-5 in reply; Greg De Franca got 20 as Azeem Mohamed Aslam captured 3-13.
Trophy Stall Angels beat Mike’s Wellwoman by five wickets in the female final. Batting first Mike’s Wellwoman scored 72-6. Zola Telford made 39 while Alisha Allen, Kavita Yadram and Jenelli Nero picked up one wicket each.
Yadram then stoked a fluent 40 inclusive of three fours and two sixes and got support from O. O’Neil 14 as Trophy Stall Angels replied with 75-5 in eight overs. Smith snared 3-12 and Haseena Mohamed 2-19.
Enterprise Rising Star, Gwan SC and Blue Divas were the other participating teams.
Graeme Ali of the GCC presented the finalists with trophies and congratulated the winners.
