All roads lead to the Cumberland Cricket ground in East Canje, Berbice tomorrow, Tuesday February 23, 2016, Republic Day, a national holiday. More support for the annual fund raiser of the Young Warriors Cricket Club of Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice – Mash Cup 2016 has come from Jim Bacchus Travel Service.
At a simple presentation ceremony, Miss Kelly of the reliable travel service presented the sponsorship cheque to former national cricketer and club coach Hubern Evans. She said that her company is pleased to once more be part of this mega event.
Evans thanked Jim Bacchus Travel Service for supporting this event. He added that support like this has helped to unearth talent like Shimron Hetmyer, the winning captain of the West Indies under-19 team.
Other sponsors on board so far are beverage giants ANSA McAL, Ashiek and Sons Motor Supplies and Auto Sale, Massy Distribution, Roshan Satar Supermarket, A Ally and Sons Showroom, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited, Memorex, NBS Ltd, J S Printery, Vickram Jewellery, Sham Beer Garden, Mr Mortimer George, Attorney at law Murseline Bacchus, RHYY&SC, A Mahabir and Sons, Regional Democratic Council, Region No 6, Mundal Satar and Office Express.
This event will form part of Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebration with proceeds going towards further improvements to the club’s facilities and day to day running. In addition, funds will be allocated to three schools in the No19 to Gangaram area.
Meanwhile, the draw for the first round will see: Canefield vs Gangaram, YWCC vs Seawell, Buski vs Canje Pathfinders, No 19 ‘A’ vs No 19 ‘B’, Betsy Ground vs Goed Bananen Land and Rose Hall Estate vs No 7.
Incentives with the value of over $100,000 will be up for grabs along with lots of gate prizes for the fans.
