Pizza Hut recently offered its support to the GCC Ladies Hockey team after pledging sponsorship that will last for the next three years and includes academic and team sponsorship.
A release from the Company stated, “With Pizza Hut re-entering the Guyanese market under new ownership and management by The Corum Group, we found it imperative to form partnerships with key leaders across differing sectors in Guyana. Pizza Hut over the next 3 years will be heavily involved in sponsoring both academia and sporting activities. We feel that having balance is the true key to a successful life. The GCC women’s hockey team is one of the most decorated teams within the sports sector in Guyana and we are proud to be their main sponsors”.
Recently, the GCC ladies have expanded their achievements by participating in the Trinidad & Tobago national outdoor and indoor hockey league.
It was the first time that has been attempted by any regional team and the GCC ladies placed a respectable fourth in the outdoor league and made the semi-finals of the indoor league.
The team’s strong junior development programme has provided the sustainability and consistency to ensure the team’s continued success well into the future.
The GCC ladies have been dominant also in regional competition by defeating teams from Canada and Trinidad in the annual International Indoor hockey festival, hoisted the trophy no less than five times in its eleven years of existence.
