The teams registered for the mobile wizard 10/10 has requested one more week to fine tune their preparations for the tournament and Guyana Softball League (GSL) along with the West Demerara body has consented. All the teams have started preparations and are of the opinion that because it is the first tournament for sometime on the West Demerara they need the time to be more competitive.
Meanwhile, the GSL has indicated that Leonard Harprashad will be there to offer support to the West Demerara reps in order to have a smooth flow of the tournament.
The tournament which has attracted some 26 teams thus far has seen a renewal of interest in softball cricket in that area.
The preparation at various venues is heartening. One such indication is the receipt of registration of a school boys team.
The games will be opened by the Regional Chairman Region #3 who will also do the bowl off. President of GSL Mr Halim Khan will also welcome the teams and both will witness the exhibition match between two top female teams. Another exhibition match will see two schoolboys teams clashing.
The first match of the tournament will see the first two entrants going up against each other.
The tournament is a round-hand round robin competition and each team will be given an opportunity to clash with each other in the two divisions in West Bank and West Coast.
Meanwhile, Mobile Wizard has handed over the check for sponsorship to the organisers and will be at all the grounds to display their wares and services. The public is urged to take advantage of this opportunity as they will be discounts and every purchase will be attract giveaways.
