The thrills of local horse racing will continue on Sunday at the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club (NSMTC) in Silver Park No. 6 Village, West Coast Berbice when the club host a one-day horserace meet featuring some of the country’s top horses.

Several of the racehorses scheduled to compete have been turning in eye catching gallops during practice and fans are talking about the impending showdowns. The Elcock, Chris Jagdeo, Mrs Crawford, Jumbo Jet, Customs, L. Singh, Farinha and Habibulla stables will be well represented and promises an entertaining show.
The race among the three year olds for horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies is slated for 1600m and offers a purse of $330,000. The two year old horses are all born and bred in Guyana and the West Indies and will cover 1000m where the winner gallops off with $250,000.
The F Class event will be contested over 1200m and has a first prize of $240,000 while the winner of the G & H Class race, also over 12000m, will gallop off with $200,000 as the I & J Lower Class over 1200m has a top award of $140,000.
Thirteen of the horses that failed to register a win for the day would have the opportunity to compete over 1100m for a first prize of $130,000.
The final event of the day pits the skill of K and L Class horses over 1200m for $120,000.
Following the recent rehabilitation works at the NSMTC, race fans will be able to view the races in absolute comfort.
The grand stand has also been refurbished and guarantees adequate and absolute comfort for those in attendance.
