The two outstanding players from the first and second rounds of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Second Division Haier Cup 40 Overs Competition last Thursday received their prizes during a simple presentation ceremony which was held at Valu-Maxx Store on Regent Road and Oronoque Street.
The players who received a Haier DVD Player each were GCC left-arm spinner Trevon France for his superb bowling performance of 7-19 in the opening round and Malteenoes batsman Danny Narayan, who hit a sparkling 137 in the second round.
The presentation of the prizes was done by Manager Richard Jardine, who told Kaieteur Sport that the gesture was specifically aimed at rewarding the young players for their outstanding achievements and it will follow right through the competition.
According to him, the prizes will get even bigger from the semi-finals on to the final where the Most Valuable Players will receive 21’’ Haier flat screen television sets, while the MVP of the tournament will take home a 29″ television set.
GCA President Roger Harper in brief comments said that he is confident that the rewards will encourage more players to strive to produce quality performances and it all ties in a quality brand.
Valu-Maxx is associated with Queensway Store of Water Street and May’s on Regent Street.
