Ian Gouveia, fresh from a creditable performance at the recently held Guyana Open, claimed victory in the GT&T sponsored Three-ball Scramble Golf tournament played Saturday at Lusignan golf Course.
Gouveia who was a first day winner leader in the 11-17 Flight at the Guyana Open finished Saturday’s tournament with a net 69 from a gross 80 playing off an 11 handicap in triumph in the keenly contested match. He recorded a remarkable gross par of 35 on the front nine.
Bolaram Deo secured the second position on a countback with a net 71 from a gross 84 playing off a 13 handicap. Also showing remarkable form was Ayube Subhan another top performer at the Nationals, who finished third with a net 71 from a gross 89 playing off an 18 handicap.
Avinash Persaud, 2009 Guyana Open men’s champion had the best gross for the day of 73. Deo also won the prize for Nearest to the Pin. Thirty-one golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by local telephone giant GT&T.
GT&T’s Sales representatives Mary Evelyn and Tatum Reis presented the prizes to the outstanding players. President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Mel Sankies thanked the telecommunication company for its continued support.
