President of the Guyana Badminton Association, Gokarn Ramdhani, who is a Level 3 coach, attended a High Performance Continental Badminton Coaching Course for qualified coaches, which took place in Boca del Rio, Veracruz, Mexico, June 14 to 20. The course, organised through the Guyana Olympic Association and the Mexican Olympic Committee A.C., through its department of Courses Coordination and under the auspices of the Pan American Sports Organisation, and as part of the Courses and seminars Programme approved by the Pan American Olympic Solidarity Commission for the year 2009, saw several topical matters being dealt with to improve the ability of coaches attending.
The objectives of the course were to update participants with the new theories of sport coaching in the advances of sciences applied to sports; to collaborate towards improving the technical level of the coaches, for the benefit of their high performance athletes on their road to the events in the Olympic Cycle.
Ramdhani performed well and obtained a Diploma, which covered the following areas:

Methodological Functions of the High Performance Coach
Principles and Methods in High Performance Sports Training
Genetic Foundations in the Detection of Sports Talents
Diagnosis and Medical follow-up of the High Performance Badminton Player
Methodological Grounds in the Physical Preparation
Techniques and Management of different movements in the modalities of Badminton
Sports Injuries
Psychological Preparation
Stress management
Planning and Programming
Monitoring Sports Load through the Cardiac Frequency
