Barbados recorded a massive 239-run victory over Windward Islands when the teams collided in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Colonial Medical Insurance Women’s Super 50 tournament yesterday at Providence.
Batting first, Barbados posted a challenging 334-3. Skipper Hayley Matthews blasted 13 fours and one six at the top of the order before she was caught and bowled by Qiana Joseph for 91 off 111 balls. Matthews added 134 for the second wicket with Kaycia Knight after Joseph uprooted the stumps of opener Danielle Small for six with the score on 35. Knight struck eight fours in scoring 81 off 108 balls before she was bowled by Pearl Etienne. Deandra Dottin hammered 15 fours and two sixes in a robust unbeaten 94 off 50 balls, while Kyshona Knight made 23 as Joseph claimed 2-41 and Etienne 1-82.
Windward Islands were bowled out for 95 in 28.3 overs in reply with Afy Fletcher scoring 25, Akiera Peters 21 and Stacy-Ann Adams 13. Connell captured 3-36, Matthews 2-21 and Shanika Bruce 2-23.
