Saw Pit defeated Christ Ambassadors by four wickets in the latest round of matches in the FAB Mining Company Amrit Rai Memorial T20 tournament on Sunday last at West Demerara.
Watkins struck five fours and 10 sixes in scoring 111 to guide Christ Ambassadors to 162 all out in 18.5 overs, batting first at Belle Vue. Jewan Hamid claimed 3-20, R. Ramnarine had 3 -31, Imran Khan 2-6 and Zafar Khan 2 -34.
Saw Pit responded with 166-6 in 18.4 overs. Avinash Rameshwar scored 45 while Jewan Hamid contributed 41. Kenton Boyce had 2 for 16, Kirt Kipp 2-21 and Watkins 2- 33. At Canal Number Two, the home team overcame Police by five runs.
Batting first, Canal Number Two scored 157-9. Anthony Ifill led with 64; Rodwin Ward had 3-15. Police in reply were bowled out for 152. Jason Anderson scored 47 (5×4) while Adrian Welcome and Boshnarine Lalbachan made 36 each. Vishwanauth Jadunauth had 2-17 and Narendra Persaud 2- 27.
Zeeburg Sports Club beat Players Cricket Club by 9 wickets and 10.5 overs to spare, recording their fourth win in as many matches. Players were restricted to 109 -7 off their reduced quota of 15 overs, taking first strike.
Avinash Persaud and Jerome Lovell got 24 each; Yetesh Dhanpaul had 3-6. Zeeburg SC raced to 114-1 in 9.5 overs in reply. Ricardo Poloram scored 55 not out and Balbinder Shivpersaud 47.
At Belle Vue, Christ Ambassadors defeated Windsor Forest by 2 wickets. Windsor Forest batted first and managed 132-7.
Lalta Sookanand scored 42 and Avinash Ganesh 17. Kevin Paul snared 3 -14. Christ Ambassadors scored 134-8, in reply, Kenton Boyce made 44 and Selwyn John 22; Abdullaah Wazidali captured 3-21.
At Zeeburg, Rising Star ‘A’ beat Meten Meer Zorg Cricket Club by 41 runs. Batting first, Rising Star ‘A’ posted 178-7. Anand Bharat top scored with 54 (4×4 3×6) while Marvin Cheong made 43 (6×4 2×6) and Elroy Fernandes 20. Vishal Jaigobin claimed 3-40 and Jermain Reynolds 2-20. In reply, Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Club were sent packing for 131in 16.3 overs. Kevin Coleman got 22 and Mahendra Nandkishore 18. Cheong picked up 3-10 and Bharat 3 -36.
At Meten Meer Zorg West, Meten-Meer-Zorg Future Youths got the better of Police by 42 runs. Batting first, MMZ Future Youths scored 169-5. Derick Foo struck 55, Sheldon Alexander 40 and Surendra Lakeram 22.
Boshnarine Lalbachan took 2-23 and D. Hughes 2-34. Police managed 127-8 in reply. Ronald Allyne scored 44 and Vishal Peters 40; Alexander returned with the ball to grab 4-20. Omesh XI beat Meten Meer Zorg Future Youths (MMZFY) by 5 wickets.
MMZFY took first strike and scored 125-8 in 18 overs. Sheldon Alexander scored 36 and Vinod Rajkumar 18; Nandalall Doodnarine captured 3-20 and Leoryan Ramlakhan 2-26. Omesh XI reached their target in 16.1 overs with opener Mark Gonsalves scoring 60 (3×4 4×6) while Vickram Kisson made 43. At Canal #2 Sports Club, Dynasty Sports Club beat Rising Star B by 67 runs.
