Athletes in the powerlifting arena are getting ready to showcase their strength yet again,
this time it would be for the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) Intermediates/Masters Championships which would be held on Sunday May 7th at the Banks DIH Sports Complex lifting off from 09:00hrs.
Weigh-in for this event will be from 07:00 – 08:30hrs for female participants and the lighter weight classes, further notification and more details would be done via an SMS text, the federation has indicated.
Registration will close on April 21st while late registration with a $500 penalty fee will be from April 22nd – 28th after which all registration for this event will be completely closed.
This competition is open to all Novices (first timers) and Intermediate lifters (lifters who completed novices). The GAPF has stated that these lifters can pay to compete as both Masters and Open or Juniors/Sub-Juniors and Open and this would be based on their respective ages.
Registration forms for the 2017 Intermediates/Masters Championships can be downloaded online and submitted to the following Executive Committee Members:
Mr. Osmand Mack PRO/Organizing Secretary at Eye Wear Optical located at 349 East Street, North Cummingsburg, Georgetown or Mr. Martin Webster – Committee Member located at ‘S’ Bent Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown.
Athletes are reminded that the current IPF rules regarding athletes’ attire will be in full effect; for example: Singlet4″ belt Round neck T-Shirt (Plain).
For more information, lifters are urged to see the 2016 IPF Rules for further details on requirements for both Equipped and Classic Lifting. Further, all federation members (particularly current Athletes) are reminded that the GAPF’s yearly affiliation fee (usually paid at the beginning of each year at the AGM) is no longer $1000 per person. This fee is now $5000 per person, ratified at the 2017 AGM.
Members are asked to make necessary arrangements to ensure that their payments are made in full, prior to participating in these meets.
