With race day set for tomorrow all systems are in place for the Port Mourant Turf Club grand one day horserace meet at the Club’s entity Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.
Sizzling action is anticipated with seven races carded for the day. So far over 70 horses have entered for the action which has over $4M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
The feature event, sponsored by Banks DIH Limited, is open to all imported and locally bred horses. The distance is 5F with the winner set to take home $700,000 and trophy. A star studded field has been lined up for the event with the much vaunted American Boss set to do battle against a star studded field. That includes the likes of Princess She’s Not, Plum Plum, Storm Bird, Big man Bass and Storm Mark.
The G and lower race over will be run over 6.5Furlongs for a winning pocket of $300,000 and trophy and will see the likes of Rosetta, Chelsea, Birdman, Comprador, Settling star, Midnight Blues, Bridle Stone Corner and Quiet Strom among others.
The H1 and lower event already has the likes of Midnight Blues, Goldikova, Silver Bell, Amazing Run, Princess Maya, Cat Messiah, Quiet storm, Monsoon Bird Man, Jumbo’s Gift, Miss Lova Lova, Atlantic Storm and Weekend Surprise set top compete for the $250,000 and trophy over 6.5F.
The race for Three-Year-Old maiden horses bred and born in Guyana has a winning pocket of $220,000 and trophy also over 5F and has such animals as Ready for Romance, She in control, Touch D road and Secret Thinker, Miss Chatrina, Daddy’s Dollar, We Control and Golden Kiss.
The ‘J’ and Lower race will see the winner taking home $160,000 over 6F and has the likes of Party time, Affinity, Massiquita Dr, Liquid lion, Red Region and Savion.
The K class will see the likes of Royal Stallion, Turn about, Smarty light and Speed vision racing for a first prize of $140,000 and trophy over 6F.
The L class event also over 6F for a winning take of $120,000 and trophy will see the likes of Call She Royal, Magaline, Blondie, Royal Progressive and Iron man among the 16 participants entered for the event.
Among the bevy of sponsors on board include Republic Bank Rose Hall Branch, Peter Lewis Association Construction and Shaba Car Rental. The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
