Guyanese Travis Blyden was named Trinidad & Tobago 50-over Cricketer of the year at the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) Annual Awards Ceremony at the National Energy Skills Centre in Couva, Central Trinidad on Saturday night.
After being named player of the year last year in Trinidad & Tobago for Everygreen Sports Club scoring over 1120 runs and taking 15 wickets, Evergreen gained promotion to the Premier League where Blyden made 679 runs and took 19 wickets.
“After my T&T season ended I came over to Toronto to represent my new team OVERSEAS /OCA cricket club after playing for Civic sports club for four years and it was a useful season. I scored 434 runs and took 27 wickets and I also continue to represent GT BANNAS in the OSCL’s Bumper ball league, making 180 runs and taking 6 wickets,” Blyden explained.
“I did not achieve my goal with runs or wickets but I must thank God for the injury free season and the health and strength to complete it,” Blyden concluded.
The Award, won by Blyden, who is in Canada, was collected on his behalf by Evergreen’s Manager. (Sean Devers)
