Race walkers are invited to match their steps against each other on Sunday January, 29 when the Cavalier Sports and Tour Club (CSTC) launches their first race walk for the 2012 season with a 10k race around Soesdyke, East Bank of Demerara.
National race walk champion Rudolph, who won 117 local races will be going all out to continue his winning streak. The race commences at 06:30hrs at Trevor Harry’s Photo Studio, Back Road, Soesdyke and end at the place of origin.
Trophies, medals and other prizes will be awarded to winners in the male and female senior, junior, veterans and differently able categories.
Interested participants are asked to be present at the starting line at 6:00hrs.
Meanwhile, the Cavalier Sports and Tour Club events for this year’s Republic Anniversary are as follows:
On Sunday February 5th, a 10k walk race around Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara from 6:30hrs at Clay Brick Road and concludes at the same venue.
On Sunday February 12th, the walk race continues with the Linden Forbes Burnham Anniversary Race Walk from 6:30hrs at President’s College, Golden Grove East Coast of Demerara proceeding to Belfield Residence and ends at President’s College.
The following Sunday (February 19) the Linden Highway Mash race walk will start at the Soesdyke NDC office at 06:30hrs at the Linden Bridge (Wismar End) and proceeds to Bayroc Recreational Centre to finish at Wisroc.
