Rookie Super bike champion Carey Griffith speaking with Kaieteur Sport shortly after being presented with his trophies said he was extremely elated with his performance after winning all three races in the category on Sunday during the final leg of the GT&T / Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Griffith, who was appearing in his second Meet was simply unstoppable and attributed his success to the hard work ethic, his ability to learn fast and his willingness to listen to some of the experts.
The easy going rider was dominant in the category, adding that he will be competing for a couple of years more, before attempting to challenge the ‘big’ boys in the professional division.
Speaking of the importance of the additional class, Griffith pointed out that he sees it as an important step towards developing the new generation of professional riders since there is where they usually emerge from.
He singled out persons such as Caribbean Super bike champion Stephen Vieira, Wayne Vieira, Carlos Rodrigues, veteran Victor Pires as those instrumental in nurturing his career as a rider.
“These guys have always encouraged me to take my abilities from the streets to the circuit and I heeded their advice and the rest is history,” Griffith informed this newspaper.
He stated that those guys took the time out to teach him the finer arts of riding and his receptive nature kicked in automatically and he was able to reward them, his fans and sponsors.
He thanked his sponsors Dixie Lee, Purple Heart Hotel, Nigel’s Supermarket, West Side Car Wash, Professional Key Shop, Windjammer Hotel, the Pit Crew, his fans, family and friends for their support throughout the year.
