– One man in custody
Just two days after the police released its crime statistics, another murder has been reported and again it’s related to the interior.
One man is in police custody following the beating and subsequent death of a man at Apaika, Enachu, North West District.
Dead is father of five Aftab Rahim, 32, of lot 262 Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
The incident occurred last Saturday (September 3) and Rahim died at the Georgetown Hospital yesterday.
His sister Shamima Rahim told Kaieteur News last night that her brother’s battered body was brought to Georgetown by her father.
The woman said from reports the family received, Rahim who is a carpenter was robbed of $230,000 cash by four men.
Kaieteur News was told that the men beat Rahim and he was later found in an unconscious state. He was rushed to the city for medical attention.
Investigations into the incident are still continuing. A post mortem examination is expected to be performed today.
