When the Aracari Resort Invitational Beach Volleyball Tournament serves off today at the entity’s location on the West Demerara, the cream of the country’s best players will be on show.
This is according to co-ordinator Ian Wills, who spoke to Kaieteur Sport via telephone yesterday.
Wills said that the competition has attracted a mixture of past and current national players and rivalry should be keen and competitive for the grand first prize of $100,000 and trophy.
The teams listed to appear on opening day are Rollers (New Amsterdam), Levi ‘C’ (Port Mourant), Park All Stars (G/Town), while an unknown team will also take to the court.
Wills further disclosed that even though the female segment has not been listed as part of the sponsorship from Aracari Resort, fans could expect competition among the females and this will be sponsored by the Guyana Volleyball Federation.
Kaieteur Sport visited the facility yesterday and work on the preparation of the court was in full swing with workmen being seen laying the sand and levelling it for what is anticipated to produce some enthralling duels among the best players in the country.
Meanwhile, the draw for the remainder of the tournament has been released.
