West Berbice cowboys turned out in their numbers, yesterday, to pay their last respects to Daniel Usher aka Shaggy, a cow minder who was shot dead when he chased a policeman with a cutlass at Number 30 Village two Fridays ago.
Many villagers described Shaggy, as the village handyman who was of unsound mind was not considered dangerous although he was known to threaten a number of people in the village.
On the day he was shot, the police were responding to a report of threatening behaviour. They reportedly confronted the accused and got chased for their efforts.
Eyewitnesses said, that the man had stopped chasing after the ranks when one of them turned and shot the him
Shaggy was buried at Number 28 Village cemetery after a service at St Gabriel’s Anglican Church.
