Western Tigers’ Devon Millington went on a goal spree and found the back of the net 5 times to register an emphatic win for his team against Uitvlugt FC when play continued in the Mayor’s Cup Football Championships at the Georgetown Football Club Ground (GFC) Sunday evening last.
Millington scored the first three in the 35th, 54th, and 57th minutes before his teammate, Paul Giles broke his stride with a 75th minute effort. Millington then returned to finish off the West Coast Demerara in the 82nd and 84th minute. The win has propelled Western Tigers into the quarter-finals slated to get underway from this Friday.
In the other match witnessed last Sunday, Camptown FC off the back of a Telson McKinnon’s double, in the 6th and 70th minutes, squashed the dreams of Pouderoyen FC 2-1. Gideon Payne netted for the losers in the 45th minute.
The competition continues on Friday with two, quarter- finals matches. Alpha United play GFC, while Western Tigers oppose Camptown.
The eagerly awaited showdown between Pele and Buxton will be staged on Sunday while Conquerors and the Guyana Defence Force clash in the other quarter-final encounter, also on Sunday.
