Rodwell Simpson, 31, of Barr Street, Kitty, was yesterday fined $15,000 or an alternative of six months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty for using threatening language.
The charge states that the defendant on February 22 at Middleton Street, Newtown, used threatening language against Kumar Citamand.
According to Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith, on the day in question the defendant was at the VC’s licensed liquor parlor. The prosecutor further stated that Simpson, along with other patrons, was using offensive language. The VC proceeded to tell the said individuals that they should not behave in such a manner since it was a business place.
At this point, Griffith said, the defendant became annoyed and started to threaten Citamand that he would kill him. The matter was reported to the police by the VC. The defendant told the court that on the day in question he was under the influence of alcohol which caused him to behave in this manner. He admitted that he cursed the virtual complainant but never told him anything about killing him.
