Manzoor Alli, a 31-year-old salesman, was shot in the right hand during a dispute at around 16:30 hrs yesterday in the compound of Twins Manufacturing Company in Industrial Site, Ruimveldt.
Police identified the woman at the centre of the dispute as a girlfriend of the man who shot Alli.
Kaieteur News understands that Alli, of Independence Boulevard, and a female co-worker were in the company’s compound when they had a misunderstanding, during which she reportedly called her boyfriend on her cell phone.
Shortly after, a motor car drove up with the boyfriend and another man inside.
According to reports, the woman’s male associate exited the car and during a heated argument, slapped Alli in the face. He then allegedly drew a handgun and shot the salesman in the hand before escaping with his accomplice.
Alli was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for medical treatment but then opted to be treated at a private hospital.
