The manageress of an Internet café had to be treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital for injuries she sustained during an armed robbery on Wednesday night.
The woman, Leslyn Hamilton, was beaten with a gun by a lone bandit who invaded the ‘Talk is Cheap’ Internet Café located at Ozama Street, North Ruimveldt. Three other persons who were customers in the café were also robbed.
According to the police, Leslyn Hamilton, who was in charge of the business at the time, and three customers Velsha Easton, Christopher Belle and Victor Harrinandan were in the café when the armed man entered and held them up.
He ordered them to lie on the floor and proceeded to take away an undisclosed sum of cash, a quantity of jewellery and three cell phones from the victims and escaped. The matter was subsequently reported and the police have launched an investigation.
