Nand Sanicharan struck a fine century as Rubis Ogle U13 defeated the visiting United States Cricket Academy (USCA) U13 by 85 runs yesterday at Ogle Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.
Sanicharan slammed 103 and shared in a third wicket stand of 96 with Andrew Samaroo who made 30 to steady the home team batting after Vatsam Patel and pacer Akhil Kumar picked up two early wickets. Sanicharran struck ten fours and two sixes off 105 balls, while Samaroo hit three fours as Rubis Ogle rattled up 189-7 off their allotted 30 overs, batting first. Vishal Moorchand chipped in with 17 while the impressive Kumar who maintained a decent line and length captured 4-11 off six overs.
In reply, USCA lost two early wickets before Viraj Vaghula (10) and Rishabh Jain (06) added 29 for the third wicket to keep their team in the hunt. However, when they were separated, the rest of the batting failed to offer support as they were bowled out for 104 in 32.2 overs. Extras contributed 47; Sanicharan returned with the ball to capture 3-20, while Azandee King had 2-1 and left arm spinner Michael Pooran 2-11. (Zaheer Mohamed)
