It has been confirmed that Guyana and West Indies youth cricketer Shimron Hetmyer is the newest sports personality to join the Banks DIH Limited Sports Brand Ambassador Programme.
In a release from the company, Banks DIH stated that Hetmyer will be the Brand Ambassador for Aqua Mist Water, pure artesian water.
The prolific 17-year-old left-handed opener was inducted into the programme at a ceremony held on October 13th at Thirst Park.
The former Berbice High School student, who hails from Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice, has represented Guyana at the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
He was named in the West Indies Under-19 team for the Bangladesh Junior team tour of the Caribbean last year. He also travelled with the WI Junior Team to the United Arab Emirates earlier this year.
The aggressive opener/wicketkeeper has scored several centuries in his career, the first (118) at the age of 13 years in the Berbice Under-19 Inter-Zone competition. He has also scored centuries against Windward Islands, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago in regional competition. Hetymer is a member of the Young Warriors Cricket Club in Berbice.
Hetmyer said he was extremely elated to be a Sports Brand Ambassador for Banks DIH Limited.
His father Gladston Hetmyer also expressed gratitude and praised the Company for investing in Shimron’s cricketing development.
“I know he has the potential to be an outstanding cricketer and I would like to thank Mr. Clifford Reis, Chairman and the management of the company for showing the confidence in him,” he added.
Communications Manager Troy Peters said Banks DIH Limited has been following Hetmyer’s career and decided to select him to the Band Ambassador’s Programme. He is the seventh Brand Ambassador named by the Company.
Peters offered congratulations to the young cricketer and encouraged him to remain disciplined and dedicated in his cricketing career.
