A fine allround performance by Sase Narine guided Parika Salem to an 8-wicket victory over Hydronie when play in the Roberts Gas Station T\20 competition continued last Sunday in East Bank Essequibo.
Narine grabbed 2-15 then returned to top score with 52 (6×4,3×6) as host Parika Salem triumphed in 12 overs. Hydronie batted first and were bowled out for 94 in 17.5 overs. Shivendra Hemraj made 24 (3×4). Hemchand Persaud 3-23, Yoghistir Bachan 2-10 and Travis Drakes 2-23 were the other successful bowlers. Parika Salem replied with 98-2 with Narine leading the way.
At Vergenoegen, Parika Salem overcame the host by 10 wickets. Vergenoegen took first strike and were bowled out for 78 in 16.5 overs. Deon Patterson scored 24 (2×4,1×6); Sase Narine and Hemchand Persaud claimed 3-10 each for the visitors who replied with 79 with out loss in 9.1 overs. Kevon Boodie top scored with an unbeaten 47 (3×4,4×6) and Yoghistir Bachan made 13 not out.
At Tuschen, Hydronie although suffering four run outs beat the host A team by 43 runs. Hydronie scored 126-9 in 20 overs after taking first strike. Rovin Sewnarine led with 55 (3×6, 6×4) while Lalchan Kissoon captured 2-13 and Gibran Rambarran 2-17. Tuschen A were skittled for 83 in 14.1 overs in reply. Sewnarine returned to capture 4-22 and Ajit Seodat 2-7.
At Parika, High Park got the better of Philadelphia by 61 runs. High Park took first turn at the crease and rattled up 119-9 after the game was reduced to 16 overs. Safraz Karim slammed 59 (7×4,1×6); Tisha Baldeo snared 3-14 and Shiv Persaud 2-16. Philadelphia were routed for 58 in 11.1 overs in response. Sadesh Jaikarran made 21 (3×4) as Imran Mohamed picked up 4-14 and Mahendra Nandkishore 3-11.
At Vergenoegen, High Park triumphed over the host by 6 wickets. Vergenoegen batted first and scored 105-9 in 20 overs. Shawn Cameron scored 27 (2×4) and Elton Daniels contributed 26 (1×4); Mahendra Nandkishore picked up 2-13 and Inshan Mohamed 2-27. High Park replied with 106-4 in 15 overs with Nandram Lallaram top scoring with 40 (7×4) and Gibran Mohamed chipped in with 22 (1×4). Sheldon Alexander took 2-25.
The competition continues on Sunday.
