The Rose Hall Town Pepsi Under-19 and Bakewell Second Division teams on Saturday last handed over $35,000 worth of specially printed Christmas Cards to the Berbice Cricket Board. The presentation was done under both team’s Personal Development Programme and would be distributed by the Berbice Cricket Board to all its sponsors, friends and well wishers.
Assistant Secretary of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Ms. Nermala Sewdat in handing over the donation stated that it represents the latest contribution of the Club towards the development of cricket in Berbice.
The two teams she disclosed have been funding the cards for the past three years as the cricketers were determined to be not just players on the field but active participants in the rapid development of cricket in the Ancient County.
The cards were printed at the F&H Printery in Georgetown and feature on the cover the Albion Community Centre First Division Cricket team.
Sewdat reassured the officials of the Berbice Cricket Board that the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club in 2011 would continue to play a major role in assisting the Board as it strives to fulfill its mandate.
First Vice President of the Board, Mr. David Black, in accepting the donation praised the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and its cricket teams for their continued assistance, describing the players as positive role models worthy to be emulated by all cricketers in Guyana.
