Blairmont game shifts to GFC
Defending champions Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United are expected to come out blazing when the 2010 Guyana Football Federation National Super League sponsored by the Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF Project funded by FIFA gets underway tomorrow at three venues around the country.
Alpha will face Seawall FC of West Demerara in the feature game at the GCC ground Bourda from 16:00hrs this afternoon with opening play between the Guyana Defence Force and Liquid Gold of Bartica from 13:30hrs.
Both Alpha and the GDF will not be allowing their opponents to settle at any point during the encounters as they are both competing in the Caribbean Football Union’s Club Championships and will be aiming to build confidence ahead of their respective group matches given the changed format of the competition.
Sunburst Camptown and Rosignol United were originally scheduled to face off at the Blairmont Community Centre ground but due to the unavailability of this venue, the match will now be played at the GFC ground where the home advantage will shift to the Camptown boys. Kick off time is 19:00hrs.
Up at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden, double header actions awaits the fans.
Buxton United will tangle with Milerock in the curtain raiser from 18:00hrs with the main event featuring Bakewell Topp XX and Victoria Kings.
With a number of the teams and players taking advantage of the transfer window period in January, some clubs have been strengthened while some have lost leading players. Only time will tell how they fare in this year’s competition which will be contested over two rounds.
