Gunners and Ravens recorded victories, as the New Building Society 40-over cricket competition continued recently in North Essequibo.
At Sparta, Gunners defeated Sparwin by three wickets. Sparwin batting first made 111 all out in 25 overs. Roopnauth Rajkumar top scored with 45, as Prince Holder grabbed 4-11 off 5 overs and Christopher Blucher 2-24.
Gunners in reply made 112-7 off 25 overs, with Maxie McKenzie contributing an undefeated 22 and Safraz Ali 15.
Dinesh Rudolph and Ivan Ramlall took two wickets each for Sparwin. The game was reduced to 25 overs due to rain.
At Richmond, Ravens overcame Walton Hall by 113 runs. Ravens took first strike in a game which was reduced to 30 overs and managed 176-8 in their overs.
Former Essequibo batsman Elroy Stephney made 26, Fenton Jacobs 25 and Laxmikant Narine 21.
Uvindra Balgobin 2-27 and Nand Bahadur 2-30 were the pick of the bowlers for Walton Hall, who were bowled out for 63 in 30 overs.
Bahadur returned with the bat to top score with 43. Stephney also showed his all round ability by taking 4-12, while Fenton Jacobs supported with 3-15.
The competition continues on Sunday with Lima hosting Young Achievers.
