Bakewell Topp XX has joined Blueberry Hill at the top of the points standings following their 3-1 triumph over Silver Shattas on Friday evening when play in the Upper Demerara Football Association / Banks Beer / Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport division one league resumed at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
Shattas were joint leaders with Blueberry Hill and Topp XX were third but the positive result for the Bakewell boys have paced them ahead of Shattas.
Leading the five-time Kashif and Shanghai champions to their win were Jamie Wilson who opened the scoring in the 24th, Shevane Seaforth 75th and Ron Fiedtkou who converted on the stroke of full time. Netting the lone goal for Shattas was Alestor Johnson in the 63rd minute.
In Friday’s opening match up, Milerock and Blueberry Hill battled to a nil all stalemate. The league is expected to continue on Wednesday with two more matches at the same venue. Amelia’s Ward, on 8 points will face bottom of the table Eagles United who are on 3 in the curtain raiser from 18:00hrs.
Main play brings together Winners Connection (8 points) and Blueberry Hill who along with Bakewell Topp XX are on 14points each.
