Plaisance ‘B’, Buxton Diamond, Beterverwagting (BV) ‘B’ and Melanie ‘B’ will contest tonight’s semi-finals with the respective winners to clash in the final to decide the champion of this year’s East Coast Demerara Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Football Competition.
In the respective matchups, Plaisance ‘B’ will collide with Buxton Diamond in the opening fixture, before BV ‘B’ take on Melanie ‘B’ in what is being touted as a virtual final.
Play in the competition continued on Saturday night, before another large turnout, at the Haslington Market Tarmac with round of 16 and quarter-final action being completed.
The winning team will take home $250,000 and the championship trophy along with the right to represent the East Coast in the national playoffs, while second, third and fourth placed teams receive $150,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
So far, the Georgetown, West Demerara/East Bank Demerara and Berbice Zones have been completed, while the Linden and Bartica zones are expected to be played shortly after the conclusion of this zone.
