The national Sevens rugby squad departed yesterday to participate in
the IRB International Hong Kong Tournament.
According to a release from the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) the travelling contingent comprises twelve (12) players and three officials including Technical Director Angus Thomson, who will also serve as Manager, Head Coach Theodore Henry and Strength and Conditioning Coach/Physiotherapist Barrington Philip Browne.
The players named: Ryan Gonsalves (C), Claudius Butts, Richard Staglon, Ronald Mayers, Patrick King, Peabo Hamilton, Kevin McKenzie, Avery Corbin, Lancelot Adonis, Dwayne Schroeder, Rickford Cummings and Vallon Adams.
The release added that the GRFU President on behalf of the entire executive extended best wishes to the team along with its Technical Director, Coach and S&C/Physio and exhorted the players to be worthy and true ambassadors of their Country on and off the field.
The players who did not make the cut nevertheless remain in contention for spots on the National teams for the June NACRA Championships/OLYMPIC Qualifiers as well as the Pan American Games.
