With about two weeks to go before the lucrative Guyana Cup rematch Horserace meet, over 50 entries have already been received.
The event, which is set for Sunday 21st December at the Port Mourant Turf Club, is organised by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club.
So far over 50 horses have been entered for the much anticipated meet and according to one of the organizers, Tribuwan ‘Turbo’ Jagdeo, the venue will be in top shape and a record turnout is anticipated.
Nine competitive races are scheduled for the day. The Meet is expected to see most of the horses that competed in the feature event of the original Guyana Cup lining up once again for the feature D1 and lower race for $1.5M and Trophy over 1600M.
Horses such as Defending Guyana Cup Champions CP Got Even will be looking to shield its turf against the likes of Treacle, California Strike, Red and Lovely, Princess She Not, Jack Is My Style, Settle In Seattle, Curfew Tower, Plum Plum and Got To Go among others.
The Co-feature 1600M event for 3 year old Guyana and the West Indies bred horses will see the likes of Just call Me Boss, Unsettled, Release the Beast, Shooting Star, Royal Empire, Quiet Dancer and Settling Jet renewing their battle for the tantalizing $1M and trophy up for grabs.
Midnight Blues will be looking for another bright day in the Two year old event for West Indies Bred horses as it takes on Storm Bird, It’s My Choice, Gold D Kova, Miss Lewinsky and She Running Hard among others for the winners money of $600,000 and trophy over 1200M.
Other events on the day are the E class and lower 1500M for a first prize of $600,000 and trophy.
The G1 and lower 1200M race fetches the winner $500,000 and trophy.
The two year old event for Guyana bred horses has a $300,000 price tag and trophy over 1200M.
The H1 and lower 1200M race has a winning pocket of $250,000 and trophy.
The ‘I3’ and lower 1200M event has a pole position taking of $200,000 and trophy.
The J3 and lower 1200M race has a winning pocket of $150,000 and trophy.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers.
Entries close next Saturday 13th December.
The organisers have also have put together some interesting incentives for lucky patrons and participants that will be unveiled later. The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority
