Guyana’s medal fortunes were looking great by the end of the third day of the Caribbean Regional
Badminton Championships (CAREBACO) taking place in the land of Reggae, Jamaica at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium University of Technology, Kingston.
Advancing to the semi finals and medal rounds contested yesterday were Priyanna Ramdhani in the Under-13 Singles, Mix Doubles and Under-15 Doubles; Abosaide Cadogan in the Under-13 Singles and Doubles; Narayan Ramdhani – Under-17 Singles and Doubles and Jonathan Mangra in the Under-17 Doubles.
Following are the results of matches contested on day three, Wednesday.
Under-17 Boys Singles Quarter-Finals
Narayan Ramdhani defeated Justin Taylor of Jamaica 21-6, 21-5.
Under-13 Mix Doubles Quarter-Finals
Priyanna Ramdhani and Zane Reid (Jamaica) got past Kennie King and Mackenzie Howard of Jamaica 21-4, 21-12.
Under-17 Mix Doubles Quarter-Finals
Narayan Ramdhani and Ambika Ramraj lost to Shane Wilson and Alana Bailey of Jamaica 21-9, 21-9.
Open Men Doubles Quarter-Finals
Sixteen year-old Narayan Ramdhani measured his ability by reaching the Quarter-Finals when he teamed up with Christopher Persaud to play in the higher Open Doubles event but lost to Jonathan-David Smith and Kermar Valentine of Jamaica 24-22, 21-9 in an exciting match with the Guyanese pair almost taking the first game.
