Yog Mahadeo second in command
A senior executive of Banks DIH Limited has been named to head the Private Sector Commission (PSC), one of Guyana’s leading advocacy groups for local businesses.
Ramesh Dookhoo, the Business Development Executive at Banks, was elected following the Annual General Meeting held Friday at Duke Lodge, Kingston, a statement from the PSC said yesterday.
Dookhoo is replacing local businessman, Captain Gerry Gouveia.
Yog Mahadeo, who has been earmarked as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company following the resignation of Joe Singh, Major General (rtd), is the new Vice Chairman.
Chandradat Chintamani, Managing Director of Demerara Tobacco Company, will retain his position of Honorary Treasurer and Andrew Astwood, President of the Shipping Association of Guyana is the new Honorary Secretary.
According to PSC, the members of the new executive are no strangers to the body since they have served in various capacities before.
“They bring with them a wealth of experience that would help to propel the PSC. The executive expressed their appreciation to Council members for their confidence in them and promised to work assiduously in the development of the PSC.”
According to the statement yesterday, the outgoing Chairman, Captain Gouveia, is pleased with the new executive and promised to continue to commit his time and services to the PSC.
This was also echoed by Executive Director of the PSC, Roubinder Rambarran, who congratulated the new executive and expressed his enthusiasm to work hand in hand with them to achieve the mission and goals of the PSC.
