A 22-year-old man who was reportedly unmasked by his victim during a robbery has been granted bail in the sum of $40,000 on a robbery under arms charge.
The accused, Travis Springer, made his appearance yesterday at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty.
It is alleged that on Thursday last, armed with a knife, he robbed Genevieve Mc Bean.
To the charge, Springer pleaded not guilty. He is expected to make his next court appearance on September 28.
Representing Springer is legal aid counsel, Sunil Scarce, He said that Springer has a two-year-old child who is currently hospitalised at the Suddie Public Hospital.
The prosecutor is Inspector Oswald Pitt, who did not object to bail.
The court was told that on Thursday last at the Hope For All Foundation in Suddie, Mc Bean, who is an office assistant, sustained an attack as she was opening up the office. During the attack, she engaged one of her attackers and reportedly managed to remove his mask. She was then clubbed to the head with a piece of wood and fell unconscious. Her attackers then helped themselves to $7,000 which was in the woman’s handbag.
The woman was eventually rescued by her colleagues who by then had turned up for work.
