Up to press time yesterday the suspect in Saturday night’s murder on the West Bank of Demerara was still at large.
This newspaper was told that the police, yesterday, conducted a search in parts of Albouystown having received information that the suspect was hiding out in the area.
They did not locate him. The suspect is wanted for questioning into a stabbing incident, which left a 39- year-old Patentia man dead.
Reports are that on Saturday evening around 19:05 hours Redwin Europe, called “Boojie” of Patentia Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara was stabbed once in the back by a known assailant.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a gambling dispute, which occurred at the Wales Community Centre Ground at a fair.
Initial reports stated Europe and the suspect bet $500 each and Europe won the game. However the suspect grabbed back his money thus leading to a scuffle between the two men.
However some time later, while Europe was sitting on an old fridge the man with whom he had the altercation earlier, attacked him with a knife.
