U-13 Cricket tournament continued last weekend with two matches.
On Friday, Transport Sports Club won toss and choose to bat made and were hustled out for 65 runs off allotted 20 overs. Riyad Latiff and Jonathan Barton made 7 each. Extras was a healthy 35. Bowling for GYO, Dilshan Roopnarine took 2 for 10 and Danesh Persaud took 4 for 20.
GYO in reply made 66 in the 18th over with Mavindra Dindyal top scoring with 33. Bowling for TSC, Alvin Mohabir took 2 for 15 as GYO won by 4 wickets.
Blairmont Cricket Club, Young Blazers, inserted to bat on Saturday evening made 157/3 (25) with Zinul Ramsammy 52no, Jaden Trotz 31no and Shakir Saffie 20 against DCC. Romeo Deonarain of DCC was only bowler with accuracy and penetration. He took all 3 wickets to fall for 18 runs off his alloted 5 overs, including 2 maidens.
The partnership 50 for 1st wkt, and a 102 unbroken 4th wkt stand between Zainul Ramsammy and Jaden Trotz helped Blazers.
DCC were held to 146/7 with Inderjeet Nanan 50 being the top scorer, A. Sookra 3/21, J. Trotz 2/7 and Z. Ramsammy 1/15 led the Berbice unit as DCC lost by 11 runs.
Zinul Ramsammy was named Man of the Match.
Sunday’s Match between Everest and GCC was not played after Everest requested it to be rescheduled.
