NPG Packaging and Plastic INC and Upper Corentyne Cricket Association 20/20
The NPG Packaging and Plastic Inc 20/20 cricket competition for teams in the Upper Corentyne area began last weekend with a number of matches played. Defending champions No. 69 Vikings had a good start to the competition by winning both of their games. Other teams to win both of their games were No. 72 All Star and No. 71 Vikings.
Summarized results of some of the matches are: at No 73, No. 69 Vikings whipping No 73 by 126 runs.
NO 69 took first strike and blasted 180 for 7 off their 20 overs with Steven Embrack 79 and Viendra Gooniah 31 top scoring. Bowling for No. 73 Young Warriors, Lakeram Latchman and Azad Mohammed took two wickets each. In reply No. 73 Young Warriors were bowled out for 54 in 12.3 overs. Gooniah return with the ball to take 5 for 12 and got good support from Wadikar Ramrattan and Deon Bramdit with two wickets.
Over at No. 72 ground the host defeated Scottsburg by 30 runs.
No. 72 All Star took first strike and scored 154 for 9 off 20 overs with Trishan Ramdass hammering 52 (6×4,3×6), Mahendra Bhoj 39 and Ganesh Singh 21. Bowling for Scottsburg United, Trishan Ramsarran with 4 and Sydney Jackman Jr with 3 wickets were the main wicket takers. Socttsburg United in reply were bowled out for 124 with Owen George 27 and Carl Beresford 24 being the top scorers. Bowling for No. 72 All Star -there were two wickets each for Singh Wayne Garnett and Peter Gobin.
At the No. 70 Ground, No. 68 Turn Team defeated No70 by 137 runs.
No. 68 Turn Team take first strike against No. 70 M .Y.O and blasted 211 for 7 off 20 overs. Totaram Persaud led the way with 66 (4×4, 5×6), Anthony Dourjodhan 34, Hemnauth Ramsaroop 28 and Raj Sooknanan 20.
Bowling for No.70 M .Y.O, Jameel Assad took 2 wickets. They in reply were bowled out for 74 with Rajendra Deonarine 17 and Jameel Assad 16 showing some fight. Bowling for No.68 Turn Team, Dourjodhan and Avinash Seecharran took 3 wickets each, while Totaram Persaud took 2.
At No.69 ground, Skeldon hammered No69 Red Rose by a massive 143 runs.
Skeldon batted first and blasted 231 for 5 off 20 overs. Christopher Jaundoo scored an entertaining 73 (9×4, 3×6) and got good support from Ravi Bassoo, Delvin Maynard 25 and Andrew Persaud 22.
Bowling for No.69 Red Rose Taje Rajram snared 3 wickets. In reply No.69 Red Rose were bowled out for 88.
Dane Sydney with 5 for 10 was the main wrecker and got good support from Mahendra Chitnarine with 2 for 25 off 4 overs. (Samuel Whyte)
