Earlier this year, Gordon Fenty returned to his homeland, Guyana, after a continuous absence of 46 years.
The 60-plus-year-old Fenty enjoyed a 25-day vacation visiting from Corentyne to Kaieteur Falls to East Bank Essequibo. He also visited his birthplace, church, school and few friends left in Agricola.
Then he was overjoyed to encounter his old teacher, Hilton Lewis, now a relatively fit 96. Mr. Lewis taught with A.B.C. Fenty, Gordon’s father, and is himself a former Headmaster, GNS officer, Sports coach and Champion Masters Athlete, who was the uncle of the late Police Commissioner Laurie Lewis and a teacher of the late President Desmond Hoyte.
The two Anglicans of different generations enjoyed many pleasantries before Gordon returned to his other homeland in New Jersey, USA.
