Two backup Caterpillar engines were transported to the Essequibo Coast on Friday to facilitate residents, particularly those at Fairfield with electricity, on the southern half of the Essequibo Coast.
From reports, the backup engines would be used to supply electricity to residents on the southern feeder, while the Wartsila engine at Anna Regina Power plant would be used to generate electricity to residents on the northern section of the Coast.
Last week residents experienced power outages twice daily due to continuous maintenance works being carried out on the engine.
When the two backup caterpillar engines are installed Essequibians are expected to be supplied with efficient electricity.
