Competition in the Digicel Secondary school’s Football Tournament continued yesterday at the Kamaka Recreation ground in Moruca with a double header as action in the Region one zone of the competition saw Wauna and Port Kaituma schools gaining one-sided victories.
Despite the Final of the World Cup Football in Brazil being televised live on Cable TV, another large crowd turned up on another day blessed with glorious sunshine and they were entertained by some good Footballing skill by the students.
In the first match which commenced at 14:00hrs, Errol Lucien netted a brace in the fifth and 55th minutes to lead the Wauna students to a convincing 4-nill win against the Waramuri unit.
Paul Joseph (12th) and Lindo Valenzulela (18th) also found the back of the net to compound the Waramuri misery on a day in which Germany broke the heart of Millions of Argentina fans by becoming the first team from Europe to win a World Cup Final in South America with their 1-nill victory.
In the day’s second match, Port Kaituma whipped Kamwatta 3-0 although it was a Kamwatta student who scored the first Goal of the contest in the 75th minute. The only problem was that the enthusiastic youngster kicked the ball past his own Goalkeeper to register an ‘own Goal’ to make it 1-nill for Port Kaituma. Raymond Daniels (80th) and Kelvin Gomes (83rd) sealed the issue for their team.
Today defending Region One champions Santa Rosa face-off with Wauna with the winner taking on Port Kaituma in tomorrow’s Region One final.
