Lachmansingh Primary School were crowned champions of the West Berbice district of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) / Scotiabank nationwide Kiddy Festival after defeating Rosignol Primary by 24 runs in the final yesterday.
Playing at D’Edward ground West Bank Berbice, Lachmansingh Primary suffered 11 dismissals in scoring 126 off their allotted 12 overs after taking first strike. Aquial Williams stroked 21 and Timothy Harrichan supported with 20 while extras contributed 30.
Cathyana Jameer bowled impressively to bag 4-5 including a hat-trick; Marvan Prashad claimed 3-5 and Alvin Chowramootoo 2-9. Rosignol Primary replied with 102-9 in 12 overs. Chowramootoo and Leon Chamanlall scored 10 each while Gourav Nowrangilall made 7 and extras assisted with 18.
Harrichan was the pick of the bowlers for the winners with 3-3 while Khemraj Evans captured 3-14 and Cliston Hookumchand 2-9. Both teams have qualified for the county playoffs.
