Four year old Satesh Victor of 101 Ceaser Street, Agricola had his life snuffed yesterday after he was run over by a speeding motorcycle a short distance away from his home.
The child was pronounced dead at the Georgetown hospital around 19:00 hours, about an hour after he was struck down.
Speaking with his mother, Sushana Arjune, Kaieteur News was told that she was walking along Second Street, Agricola, heading home, when tragedy struck.
She said that she was carrying her three children, two in her arms, a baby and three year old son, Dinesh Victor, while Satesh was walking alongside her. The mother recalled hearing two motorcycles coming from behind very loudly, and before she could pull her son (Satesh) more into the corner, a motorcycle collided with him.
The child was hurled into an electricity pole before landing in a nearby drain.
The motorcyclists then stopped and looked back before riding away.
According to the mother, she did not see the number plates.
So confused was his mother that she had to rely on public spirited persons to pick him up and rush him to the Georgetown Hospital.
The distraught mother was inconsolable when she learnt that her son had succumbed to his injuries.
She appealed to the police to quickly apprehend the motorcyclist so that justice will prevail.
