The customary Christmas cleaning went horribly wrong for a woman who was injured by a bullet fired from a gun that accidentally fell from a ledge at a Kwakwani house.
Sabrina Anderson, 19, of Fyrish Village, Corentyne, sustained a gunshot wound to her left foot while cleaning a room at a relative’s house last Tuesday at around 16:15 hours.
Investigations revealed that Anderson, who is spending some time with relatives at Kwakwani, was assisting in cleaning a room.
While removing some articles from a ledge, she heard an explosion and on checking it was found that she had been shot to her left foot.
The police recovered a .30 calibre firearm with a matching round at the scene.
Sabrina Anderson was taken to the Kwakwani Hospital where she has been admitted.
Police did not say if the weapon was licenced or if anyone has been detained for questioning in connection with the firearm.
