Kaieteur Sports – Dolphin Secondary school became the most recent addition to the list of schools that has received golf equipment from the Guyana Golf Association and Nexgen Golf Academy in the drive to ensure that as many Guyanese students have access to the sport as possible.
Deputy Head Mistress Ms. Annabelle Charles, who was joined by PE HOD Mr. Ranole Bourne said, “We are grateful to Mr. Hussain and the organizations for this contribution to the school’s sports programme and all our learners, PE teachers and myself are extremely excited and looking forward to learning more about the sport. Definitely next year we will have learners taking golf as their PE elective at CSEC!”
Nexgen Golf Academy has trained and provided coaches for the Ministry of Education Unit of Allied Arts Priority Programme in Regions 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 since September 2023 and Dolphin Secondary will now join the thousands of learners who have been given access to the sport as a result of donations of equipment and balls by the Guyana Golf Association and Nexgen Golf Academy.
The donation was requested by Ms. Saskia David, the CPCE PE teacher who completed the initial golf training program coordinated by CPCE Registrar Ms. Kevaun Sears and Sports Coordinator Mr. Alque Stanley where the 2022 graduating PE Majors were trained on golf.
According to Mr. Hussain, “Former Prime Minister and current Ambassador to the US Sam Hinds has been a strong supporter and advocate of our golf development program and has pushed for inclusion of inner-city schools. As a former student of the school (when it was Dolphin Primary), on behalf of my entire family, we are happy to give back to our community where we grew up.”
