Kaieteur News – Guyana Amateur Power-lifting Federation (GAPF) welcomes the return of the Novice and Junior Power Lifting competition on 19th February at the Intense Fitness Gym, Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
This event promises to be a fierce powerlifting affair with most of the junior participants being returning athletes from pervious junior competition. The GAPF Novice/Junior Power Lifting competition spreads across three disciplines; the Squats, Bench Press and Dead lift. There will also be two different types of lifting happening at this event: Classic (raw) Lifting and the Equipped Lifting.
Athletes will be participating in sixteen (eight male and eight female) weight classes across three disciplines, they will be judged on the highest successful lift in each discipline, which will be summed up after three lifts, that total will then be calculated under the good-lift-point system, persons with the highest overall good-lift-point will be announced winners of each class.
This event will feature junior power lifters such as; Sarah Sanmogan, Romeo Hunter, Yogaishawar Seecharan and many others.
A fantastic night of amateur power lifting at the Novices and Junior’s categories is expected. Power lifting fans can come out to witness some fine power lifting in the Novice segment and also the junior power lifting segment. A small entrance fee of $1,000 will be charged.
The event is sponsored by Fitness Express, Century Springs Water and Ice, Sheik Bar and Fitness Store, Intense Fitness Gym and also Pele Alumina. Competition starts at 9:00am on Sunday, 19th February at the Intense Fitness Gym, Cornelia Ida, WCD.
